Locker-room boys

There are two things which are making the world suffer immeasurably at this point in time, one is lock-down, and the other is locker-room stories. For a layman, the locker-room is a room consisting of lockers and includes a changing space for sportspeople. I discovered this recently that a locker-room is millennial slang for a guild where boys come together for crude, vulgar or bawdy talks often boasting about their sexual conquests. On an honest note; our Brothers, Fathers, Husbands, and Boyfriends take part in these talks quite often. These aren’t just distant stories but they live and grow all around us. At some or the other point of time we’ve known them, grown-up or grew up with them and many times decide to live with them. I refer to them in the third person because I don’t find them any less than a dementor, they feed on pleasure, living with them will be no less than prison and taking their names may elevate their power. Taking their name might be a call for more shameless boys who’ll emerge out of their pits along with their rotten brains and bring forth a number of reasons why it was the girl’s fault and ‘Men will be Men’. These Men as unreasonable as their Penises.

Locker-room boys aren’t some boys discussing and objectifying Women in just chat-rooms, they are boys (This community also include elderly people but I’ll refrain from using the term ‘Men’ because they’re far from understanding what it means.) discussing their stories of valor at tea-stalls, bars, pubs, restaurants, schools, colleges, washrooms and many times the room next to which you’re sitting and reading this. These are the boys whose brains live in their pants, they live and die there and many a time kills for the same. Indian girls are often grown with a concept that, ‘beti paraya dhan hai’ which means that a girl from the day she’s born is someone else’s property. Men in our society took this way seriously than Women. They consider every other woman’s body and soul to be theirs.

We, the younger generation believe that we’ll make a better tomorrow because we are well-educated and more civilized. Then, how come boys barely aged 16 believed that they could mock or objectify any women they come across on social media, and above all the girls whom they meet every day in schools? Most of our souls are shooked because like always our parents were right. They were right about the fact that we are way messier and shameless. How were we wrong? How did we trip so early and easily? The real answer to all these questions is often dug deep by shitloads of false and crappy feminism.

Today, it’s not a fight between two genders, it’s a fight between rationality and stupidity. It’s that time when we teach our boys to liberate the locks filled with lust and pleasure and fill them with respect where women can feel safe because growing up in such a world, my biggest fear is having a daughter someday.
