There is no shortage of life-changing bestsellers to choose from when you’ve hit a crossroads. Depending on who you are, what you believe and where you’re at in the maze of your life, one title might resonate more for you than others. The Power of Now might offer all the answers you didn’t even know you were looking for. I haven’t read any Eckhart Tolle but his body of work inspired enough people that he is a household name — the coveted ubiquity of most writers.

The Secret is a compact and succinct little missive that illuminated a path for many. It’s barely bigger than a pamphlet but I’ve heard more than one person rave about the magnitude of its impact, its ripple effects and the prosperity gospel of success and wealth that manifested after they envisioned it. For others, desiring more with less, seeking minimalism cleared a more desirable path. Before it became a socially divisive TV show The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up supposedly offered a physical methodology with parallel joy-sparking spiritual benefits. To declutter externally is to declutter internally. Less stuff, more peace. I haven’t read either but find that their inversed ideologies seemed to resonate equally with their devotees.

And of course, for millions of women feeling stuck in the rut of the wrong relationship or the wrong life, Eat Pray Love was the gospel of indulgence they had secretly been…
