When was the last time you read a novel?

Not a how-to guide. Not a biography.

An honest-to-goodness work of fiction.

If you haven’t curled up with a good book lately, you’re missing out.

Don’t disregard reading actual stories.

Many content creators talk about consuming non-fiction books on a constant basis. They boast about reading the same books over and over.

Books about marketing. Brand-building. Storytelling.

I think they’re missing an obvious point.

Non-fiction is fine, but you can learn more about storytelling from a novel than a book about storytelling.

It’s like learning to cook by eating delicious meals, not just by reading cookbooks.

If you want to hone your craft, learn from others who’ve already mastered it. Allow yourself to get lost in their words. Experience it for yourself.

Less study, more story.

Read fiction at least as often as non-fiction.
