I recently visited the ancient Roman-Christian city of Perge (or Perga) in Turkey and I was just floored by both the immense size of this ancient site as well as its beauty and sophistication as a center of culture, political power, arts and religion.

Perge is an ancient city in Turkey with a rich, remarkable history. Located 19 km east of Antalya, it was part of the Persian Empire until 334 BC when Alexander the Great conquered it.

Christianity reached Perge in the first century AD and since then it has been known for its worship of Artemis and as the birthplace of mathematician Apollonius of Perga.

The city boasts a theater, stadium, tomb, gates, walls and more — making it an incredible archaeological site for you to explore!

Discover what this miracle on the Turkish Mediterranean has to offer.
