Cinderella Revisited

You don’t need Prince Charming to rescue you

In order to enter the room she had to let go of the door;
Fear, the doorstop.
Doubt, the threshold.

Enter the world of the pretty people, she told herself.
Walk into the life you want.
Shed the ashes and shame.
Twirl in the light of the full moon.

He’s coming to rescue me, she thought.
You’ve already rescued yourself
When you reached for the dream.
And she danced for the truth that was born that night.
