What is Mpox?

A viral zoonotic illness, mpox is passed from animals to humans. It is a member of the genus Orthopoxvirus, which also include other viruses like smallpox. Though often less severe, Mpox’s symptoms are reminiscent to smallpox. Typical complaints include fever, a rash, and lymph node swelling. Complications from the condition include pneumonia, subsequent infections, and in extreme instances death.
