A House In Ruins

And a glass of water in it

A glass of water that seems out of place
Out of place in a house in ruins

A house in ruins due to years of neglect
Neglect, a natural consequence of events

Events starting with a murder
Murder of a family in that house

That house, neighbors on the street avoid
Avoid talking and thinking about

About a decade ago, this was not the case
The case was to them, mysterious

Mysterious because the family died in the afternoon
The afternoon they were supposed to go out

Go out to the temple with their neighbors
Neighbors that today choose not to remember

Remember that murder that had no witness
No witness to explain the events

The events that resulted in a murder
A murder of crows flies above the town

The town turns a blind eye, yet again
Again, there is that glass of water

A glass of water that is still half full
Half full and half empty, as always

Always waiting in the ruins
In the ruins, in the dusty house

The house that everyone forgot
