Curled up, knees to chest, following every rule the survival guide told me.

The chunk of tarp I managed to salvage from the fire is keeping out the rain but not the cold.

The cold crawls into every gap, seeps through the blue plastic as if it were silk. What little body heat I have left is calling to the bugs.

And oh lord do they heed the call.

Someone will come, they have to.

The insects swarm, no, invade every sliver of my being.

This frayed chunk of canvas might save my life

My sanity is not so lucky.

Drabbles are short — exactly 100 words. Please stick around for 30 seconds or more so you count as a reader! Thanks for stopping by :) Thanks for the daily prompt challenge, Grim Flandango. This story’s prompt: “Canvas”
