A Detective Earl Bodine Drabble
This is a Double Drabble — a story of exactly 200 words. This Drabble was inspired by the time my eldest son ignored his mother’s request for his help because he was busy playing a game on his computer.
The prompt words for Wednesday, August 14, and Thursday, August 15, from Grim Flandango are INTERMEDIATE and COLLAR.

The new detective on the squad showed up for his first day dressed like a hot-shot GQ in black slacks, a white shirt, a black tie, and a black leather jacket.
Detective Earl Bodine snickered at the younger man who’d been assigned to him for intermediate training, the unfortunately named Detective Fife.
“At least his first name’s Randal, not Barney,” Bodine’s captain said when he told Earl about his new apprentice.
Earl heard Randal stop and ask the desk sergeant, “Where can I find Detective Sergeant Bodine?”
The desk sergeant snorted, glanced at Earl, and pointed toward Earl’s desk.
