Lately I’ve been reading a lot of stories by authors that are new to me, and this has got me thinking about how we engage with new places, new characters, new societies.

More broadly, a lot of fiction offers the promise of a new adventure of some kind — even if it doesn’t always turn out to be the kind the characters enjoy!

Idea 1

Share a drabble that introduces an intriguing character or group. Is there something strange or deceptive about them? Perhaps you can hint at menace or danger without fully explaining it.
