Pivot Point: Tides of Redemption
Describing the pivot point in a story
This is a drabble response for the Creative Writing Workshop, Week #1 using “Tides of Redemption”.
Before the Pivot, Michael is a defeated man, with his world around him mirroring his desolation. The carnivorous sea longs to claim his life and trap him in its depths. All signs point to death.
The Pivot comes in a moment of clarity a little over halfway. Visions of moments he would miss with his family break through his suicidal fog. In that instant, his will to live replaced his determination to die.
After the Pivot, the world bursts into color and warmth. Buoyed by his family, he emerges reborn, with the unending possibilities of life before him.
