Red and White

A tale of two spirit guidians

There had always been two of them, ever since they came into existence: Red and White. Red knew exactly what he was meant to do. He had known it from the very beginning, that first moment when he looked down into Molly’s little face, red and crying, as she exited the mother-person and entered This Place.

He was here to help Molly make good decisions, and ultimately, to help her find and pursue her Higher Purpose. Not that he knew what that was. But that was alright. Molly herself knew, somewhere deep inside.

Red had assumed that White, Molly’s other spirit guidian, also knew these things. He found out early on this assumption was wrong.

“Mmm, that smells so good,” said White dreamily, as she watched Molly contentedly suck sweet milk from the mother person. “Isn’t mother person lovely? So soft and sweet smelling! I especially love it when she sings…ohh, listen, she’s doing it now!”

“If you don’t mind,” said Red, mildly irritated, “I am looking for signs.”

“Signs?” White flapped her translucent wings, treading air. She and red both looked like fat commas, all round head and a teeny tiny pointy body. Now she was bending her round white head so sharply to the side that she looked like a quirky quotation…
