My brother, Jake, was the honest one; I was a cheat. Cheated at cards and board games; hacked computers to get unlimited lives; cheated on tests at school.

“You’ll learn nothing,” Jake laughed. Kid brother was above me.

Years passed. Jake kept his head down, honestly working. Degree; grad school; finance firm. Rising star.

I had nothing to offer. I drifted, faked job applications, cheated on women.

Then Jake – great superstar financier – remembered me via a comfortable apartment up town. Sound guy, my kid brother.

Until they discovered the Ponzi scheme.

Guess I taught him something after all.

This used one of Grim Flandango’s drabble-a-day words, ‘cheat’.
