You grasp the slimy hand, and it hurls you into the boat. “We must hurry,” it gurgles with bulging eyes darting around the cavern. “They’re coming.”
Before you can ask, a screech rents the darkness. The creature rows frantically, propelling the boat through the water at breakneck speed. You sense something massive and serpentine moving in the depths of the shadows.
“What are they?”
“The Devourers,” the creature said. “Ancient. Hungry… Hunting.”
Another chorus of shrieks, closer now. The creature hands you an oar, and you know that your survival now depends on how well you can work together.
