Sarah sat across from Mark in a bustling coffee shop, ready to interview him for her magazine “Tech Trends”.

Sarah: Mark, it’s great to see you! Can you tell us about your organization’s mission?

Mark: Sarah, thanks for meeting me. Our mission is to raise awareness about the excessive energy consumption of AI technology. As you know, AI products consume five times more energy than their non-AI alternatives. We felt a sense of urgency to educate the public and promote sustainable alternatives.

Sarah: What milestones have you achieved so far?

Mark: We’ve made significant headway in our efforts. We successfully pressured businesses to clearly label their offerings as “AI-Assisted.” Now consumers have the information they need to make informed decisions.

Sarah: It’s wonderful to see your message spreading. What’s your next goal?

Mark: Our focus now is to push the government to levy an “AI tax” on consumers who choose “AI-Assisted” products and services. This tax will incentivize the development and adoption of energy-efficient technologies.

Sarah: Every organization has an origin story. What is yours?

Mark: It all began when an article I wrote about AI’s energy consumption went viral. The overwhelming response from readers fueled the formation of this organization, and we’ve been advocating for change ever since.

Sarah gathered her notepad and handbag, thanked Mark, and left. Mark sat back in his chair, contemplating the dialogue that had just transpired. As he closed his eyes, a pang of regret washed over him.

I wish I had written that article instead of taking AI’s help.
