Krissy stared in wonder at Honky Tonk Row on Broadway. Each club was its own little sector of music. Mostly country, but also western, rock ’n’ roll, bluegrass, and more. Maybelle drove as slow as she could down the street with windows down, and the joyous cacophony of sound rang out.
“I’m gonna play a few gigs here between our revival work. I always try to get something lined up when I get to Music City.”
“Do you think I can come see you perform, Mama?” The excitement in Krissy’s voice could not be missed.
Maybelle looked at her carefully, “I’ve heard you sing. Might be a possibility that I could get you up on stage with me, too. Would you like that?”
“Yeah, I would!” Krissy shouted. “I don’t know the songs, though, Mama. Will you help me learn them?
“Of course. We’ll start with Will There Be Any Stars, Sweet Molly Malone, I’ll Fly Away, and With Body & Soul. You know any of those, babe?” She started humming.
