Well, you’re here. WP3. You’ve written WP1, created your WP2 Archive, and you’ve published a deep collection of Medium posts. You’ve done a ton of work. You should be proud. Let’s get that straight.

Time to end the semester on a high note. WP3 is asking you to look at everything you’ve done, all the writing, the archive, and the projects. Think about our discussions and the in-class exercises. Take all of this into account and let’s write that DEEPER EXAMINATION THAT CONTRIBUTES TO ___________________. You’ll fill that blank with the DISCOURSE space you’re ENTERING into with your IDEAS.

Each of you has written about something specific regarding aesthetics and the role it plays in IMPACTING ours and your experience in the world.

For WP3, you’ll write a piece that does DEEPER DIGGING into the IDEAS, longer MEDITATIONS. Think about that last part of your trilogy: NOW THAT MY AUDIENCE HAS ENGAGED WITH WP1 AND WP2 I CAN FINALLY PRESENT THEM WITH A DEEPER DIVE INTO ________________.

Think about this project as something where you find the COLLIDING MOMENT BETWEEN THE PERSONAL and the LARGER DISCUSSION. You want to think about WHAT YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS TO THE DISCUSSION ON _________________ that you’ve developed all semester.

So, The WP3 PROMPT is: After all the writing and personal exploration this semester, when it comes to the IMPACT of ____________specifically on _______________, MY CONTRIBUTION TO THE DISCUSSION is ______________!

Don’t lose your voice. Don’t abandon the PERSONAL IDENTITY/AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL/INVESTMENT of it all, if you’ve used it. Use your experiences. Use your personal accounts. Think about how this topic is REAL, so REAL that you’ve experienced it/ENGAGED these things out in public and felt them physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The answer to this/these questions is in you (cliché, I know) but think about the writing you’ve done all semester. It comes from inside you, not from anywhere else. No one told you to write about the topics you wrote about, you CHOSE IT/THEM yourself. So, trust yourself.

This project is a REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS. Your personal experiences, thoughts, etc. (like all summer) matter to the content. Follow your instincts. Be BOLD. Provide VALUE to your audience. TEACH your audience.

THERE IS NO WRONG ANSWER.

THE DETAILS:
Word Count:
2000–2500 words.

Research: I want to see more “primary” research, so peer-reviewed articles, books, etc. You are welcome to use other sources (like we’ve been doing) but this is a much deeper dive, so you’ll need more “academic” research for that depth. How many? Anywhere between 5–7 is good.

Due Date: JUNE 30th, 2024
