Blog Adjustments
Retrospective and improvement of my feed.
This is my Writing Blog#11, I’m trying to write as many posts as I can this year, you can read my other posts here: Writing Blog — 2018
After one month of writing, I think it is time to check what was done, and see what adjustments I need to make in order to improve my daily blog.
Blog Publication
I had a confusion between Medium series and publications, now I know exactly the purpose of each one, so I created a publication for my posts.
Post Title
At the beginning, I decided that titles will be:
Daily Blog — Day#[Post_number_per_day]: Post_title
But I think that this is not the best choice, because:
- Posts reach public reading, and not all of them are aware of my blog.
- Posts talk about different topics, then the titles should illustrate that.
- Now that I’m using a collection, “Daily Blog” is redundant in the titles.
At Medium.com, people come first because of the titles, then, they may stay to read other posts if they like and understand what you are trying to do.
So from now on, I’ll keep simple titles, and put extra information in the posts.
Post Content
Like said above, I’ll add more content to the posts, in order to:
- Track the number of the post.
- Give a short description of what I’m doing.
- Link to the previous posts as a pagination.
Example:

Post Target
My goal was one post per day, I failed to keep that flow since the beginning of the month, as I explained in my post #21:
Even with that plan, my target is still not achieved. So by applying post #7:
I have now a plan B: Write one post per week.I kept writing 30 minutes per day, even more some days, but writing for 30 minutes doesn’t always mean I have a full post. I acknowledge that the target was high than what I can do. Now I’m doing it differently, I will write at least one post per week, and try to increment it as I gain in speed and quality.
Post Numbering
Since I can’t keep a post per day, using the number of the day is not correct anymore, I’ll make it now incremental according of the total number of posts.
Post #1 is the first post, post #31 is the 31th one.
Post Topics
So far I wrote 9 posts in the first month:
As said in my post #6:
I’ll talk less about crypto and discuss new topics that are also interesting.
Sum up:
Target is at least one post per week.
Daily Blog becomes Writing Blog.
Numbering is the total of posts.
To explore more topics.
Conclusion
This kind of retrospective and improvement is very important, because as the number of posts increase, the experience become more complex, and things that were understandable at the beginning can be obsolete later.
Even with few posts, I’m aware of the impact of my initial set up, for example the numbering that I need to change, I have to edit each post. It was a good idea to make this review after one month only, and anticipate such issues.
Overall I’m satisfied about the results. and excited to continue the experience.
