I live two lives as a professional writer. The first, and most closely-held in the present, is informed by my identity as a novelist, and a writer-producer for the film and television industries. The second, informed by experiences in my past as a special education teacher of at-risk children and adults, allows me to write about certain related psychological issues with a degree of credibility.

“Good Will Hunting” fulfills both personal needs as a purveyor of the written word.

Plot

Miramax Films’ official synopsis of the film is the following: The most brilliant mind at America’s top university isn’t a student, he’s the kid who cleans the floors. Will Hunting is a headstrong, working-class genius who is failing the lessons of life. After one too many run-ins with the law, Will’s last chance is a psychology professor, who might be the only man who can reach him. Finally forced to deal with his past, Will discovers that the only one holding him back is himself.
