When it comes to famous monuments in Taiwan, Taipei 101 is the first thing that comes to mind. Until 2004, it used to be the tallest building in the world, standing at an architectural height of 509.2 meters — thereby providing visitors with a magnificent view. Also, it has the fastest elevator that can transport passengers from the fifth to the eighty-ninth floor in simply 37 seconds, and is so stable that a person who has never before experienced such a quick ride won’t even feel a little uncomfortable. Another feature of Taipei 101 is its unique design, inspired by bamboo - a symbol of prosperity in Chinese culture. Although Taipei 101 is no longer the world’s tallest building, it still attracts millions of tourists every year.
