5 Reasons To Go

Travelling… it seems like a distant memory now, doesn’t it? The thought of enjoying yourself somewhere new, with no worries about wearing masks and keeping a safe distance from everyone around you - it just seems so strange. Our reality has changed so much that for most people, a trip to the Costa Del Sol seems as likely as a trip to the moon.

However, one day the pandemic will be over. Things will be back to normal, and we’ll be able to travel wherever we want again, without all the precautions we live with right now. I think with everyone having been cooped up for so long, the vast majority of people will be wanting to go on holiday, and in case you need them, here are some reasons why think that you should do the same:

Culture

Every country has their own unique culture, from the food they eat to the clothes they wear, and these customs can only be truly appreciated when they are experienced first-hand, and where better to immerse yourself in it than the country itself? Learning about different cultures is a wonderful thing, it allows us to learn more about the world and people in it who are vastly different from ourselves, which enables us to understand things that maybe we couldn’t before.

You’re never going to change and grow if you stay in your comfort zone your whole life, so put yourself out there and immerse yourself in cultures you never thought you’d learn about, let alone witness.

Language

In my opinion, learning a second language is something everyone should do. It’s extremely rewarding to go to a foreign country, speak to the locals in their native language and actually be understood. It makes you feel like you’ve achieved something great.

This skill also allows you to appreciate certain things more, like books, movies and songs, as some things do not translate well, and the true meaning can only be fully understood when in the native language. So if learning a language is something you want to do, there is no better way to do it than immersing yourself in the language, hearing it day in and day out and communicating with natives, something you can’t do whilst sitting at home.

Sights

England has a beautiful landscape, it really does, but the world has so much more to offer than what we can find in our homeland. There are beautiful beaches, mountains ranges, deserts, rainforests, and so much more to be explored, so why would you want to stay in the same old climate?

Quality time with loved ones- or yourself

People often don’t have the time to do exciting things with loves ones and things can become very routine, so jetting off somewhere new can be a great chance to reconnect with your loved ones, because experiencing things together always brings you closer.

However, this doesn’t mean that you have to travel with other people. The most important relationship you’ll have in life is the relationship you have with yourself, and it has to be nurtured, so it’s important that you spend time doing things that you enjoy by yourself. So why not treat yourself and go on holiday somewhere you want to go and spend your time there doing exactly what you want to do, without having to think about what anyone else wants- it’s okay to be selfish sometimes.

Travel because you can

We’ve all been locked up for so long without being able to go anywhere, without human contact, without socialising, without the ability to explore this world that with live in. Opportunities have been taken away from us, and I think that after this pandemic we should all appreciate life a bit more. We should appreciate life because it is free and we can anything we want with it, and we should also appreciate that we still have it, after so many have sadly lost their lives during this pandemic. We should all learn something from this time, and we should all start to appreciate life more and realise what a true gift it is.
I think we should all try to make the most out of life, and in my personal opinion, you can’t do that sat on your sofa at home. So go out, get out of this country and explore all the things you’ve wanted to see, do all the things you’ve wanted to do and simply enjoy life.
