Two missing children have returned home after a month of torture at the hands of an ‘old witch’. Gretel, only 14 was forced to live as a slave. Her brother Hansel, 16 revealed how he was locked in a cage and force-fed food.

‘She (the witch) insisted I ate constantly to ‘fatten me up’. She took pleasure in telling me how impatient she was to eat me. It was traumatic’.

Hansel attempted to outwit the Witch by giving her a bone to feel instead of his finger through the cage bars when she would try and assess how much weight he was putting on.

The whole ordeal took place in a house made of chocolate, sweets and biscuits located in the centre of a local wood. It has later been revealed that the witch had claimed other victims, as several remains were found around the grounds of the property.

The children were never reported missing by their parents; however, suspicions arose when their friends noticed their absence. Law enforcement uncovered that the parents of the victims had intentionally abandoned them in the wood, in the hopes of saving money in the household. The mother of the two and supposed ‘mastermind’ behind the plan died just last week due to an unknown illness. The father has since been taken into custody for neglect despite his claims that his late wife is to blame.

The victims managed to escape their captivity when Gretel pushed the Witch into the oven which was being pre heated to cook her brother, Hansel. She comments:

‘It was a split-second decision. I knew I wasn’t going to get another opportunity like this’.

The children were permitted to keep the gold and money they discovered and removed from the witch’s property before their escape. They are now living with a close family member who issued a statement:

‘We are just happy they are safe and healthy. The new wealth is a bonus too!’
