Children Escape Cannibal in Woods
Two children have escaped the house of a cannibal woman holding them captive in her house in the woods
Two children have returned home after spending weeks being held captive by a cannibal in Fairytale Woods. Hansel, 12, and Gretel, 9, were treated for minor injuries after returning to their family home in the early hours of this morning. Police are still searching for the culprit.
“We are doing everything we can to find the perpetrator, and are welcoming any witnesses with information that can help us. Our priority is to protect residents of Fairytale Town so we ask that you remain vigilant at this time.”
Says local Detective Grimm at a press conference following the children’s return.
The children have claimed that they were being held against their will in the home of an old witch, who was feeding them to prepare them for being eaten. Between the two siblings, they gained seven stone in weight as a result of being overfed with confectionary.
“She fed us with cake and sweets all day long whilst we did her chores”
Hansel told reporters.
The pair stumbled across the witch’s house after being abandoned by their step-mother in the woods at the beginning of January. They were enticed by her offerings of food and warmth in return for their labour. Gretel told reporters that after weeks of being fed sugary foods, the old lady asked her to light the oven and asked her to get inside to check whether it was hot enough to bake some bread.
“I knew she was going to cook me!”
Gretel says.
Gretel told reporters that she pretended to not understand the instructions of the witch and asked her to demonstrate how to check the temperature. Outsmarting the witch, she escaped the oven and supposedly closed the door on her, leaving her to burn inside and setting her brother free from his cage.
The pair returned home by following a trail Hansel had laid out after being suspicious of his step-mother’s attempts to get rid of the children in the woods. She has since passed and left the father widowed.
“I’m just so thankful that they are home safe. It’s been a terrible few weeks and I am so grateful to have them back” says father Emmanuel on his children’s return.
