If you’re a burger fan, like me, and prefer steering clear of chain restaurants serving just one mediocre house burger then I assure you, give Honest Burgers a go. It’s a hidden treasure for gourmet burger lovers. My favourite branch is tucked unassumingly yet conveniently behind London’s busiest shopping street: Oxford Street. Although the restaurant is small and usually pretty busy (because it’s so amazing of course!), the atmosphere is always chilled and pleasant and you never have to wait long to be seated by the staff who are welcoming and cheerful. The quality of service at Honest Burgers is consistently on point.

You know it can’t be your average burger restaurant when you have the likes of Professor Green sitting on the table next to you tucking in to the ‘Tribute’, rich with succulent bacon streaks, American cheese, burger sauce, French mustard and more flavoursome toppings, along with their unbelievable homemade rosemary chips. With seven burger choices on the menu, there is honestly something for everyone, ranging from chicken to beef to ‘Fritter’ (the vegetarian option), plus the choice of gluten free burger buns. For the bacon obsessed I recommend you try the ‘Honest’. This burger never fails me; topped with red onion relish, mature cheddar, pickled cucumber, lettuce and smoked bacon expertly executed to that crispy texture you want in a burger. To add to your meal, tasty side orders are also available including onion rings and apple, beetroot and red cabbage coleslaw. If you’re one to experiment with sauces, they offer flavoursome ones for just £1 including chipotle mayonnaise, curry sauce and bacon ketchup. When it comes to flavour you’ll find that you’re spoilt for choice. Not forgetting their charming homemade drinks including Lemonade, Iced Tea and Spiced Ginger and Marmalade. The lemonade is so refreshing and zesty I urge you to try it!

Considering the location of Honest restaurants the prices are fairly reasonable and being dotted around London means it’s an ideal place to stop for a practical but delicious meal. The burgers range from £7.50 to £12.50 including rosemary chips. The homemade lemonade as an example is £2.50, a reasonable price for a hefty sized fresh drink. If ever I’m in Oxford Street, the first place I think to eat is Honest. I love their food, as it really hits the spot and prepares me for a tedious shop in the bustling streets of London.
