The Westershire Woods has had its reputation changed savagely overnight. A recreational area of nature, which was enjoyed by children, family and picnic fanatics, has had it’s fun image crushed last week. The Steine siblings fought for their lives on Friday 13th February as they tried to escape hostage from the owner of the Westy’s Sweetshop Cafe. The infamous cafe is known for it’s sweet treats and hand-made chocolate. However, from now on, it will be the known for something far more sinister.

“Our office received the emergency call in the early hours of Saturday morning” confirmed Officer Stevenson from the Westershire Police Department. “Five-year old Gretel sounded tired and terrified as she informed police of the ordeal that she and her brother had to endure”. “She confided in us and explained the stream of events that led up to the death of Miss Thornberry, who lives in the shop annex and own’s the shop and cafe herself”.

After further investigation from the Westershire Police Department, Police have confirmed that Mrs Steine, the sibling’s mother, is to blame for the children being intentionally abandoned in the Westershire Woods late at night. It is because of this that the children were left in a vulnerable and dangerous situation. They were starving, cold and left without almost anything but two small bread rolls. The children explained that due to their ravenous hunger, they entered the Westy’s Sweetshop Cafe, in order to find something to eat and to gain some warmth as it is was incredibly cold deep in the woods.

Here was when the traumatising crime took place. Miss Thornberry, also well known as “the witch of the woods” by many of the children, is thought to have held Hänsel and Gretel captive after she caught them feasting at her chocolates and sweets late at night. Rumours were that she adored children but know the Police and official investigators know what this really meant. “She was planning to eat the children, starting with Hänsel” said Investigator, Charles Rothworth. “Hänsel was held cruelly hostage by Miss Thornberry for several hours as she tried to force-feed the child, in order to make him gain weight”. “The time came when Mrs Thornberry wanted to cook Hänsel in the basement oven and here is when the ingenious idea came to Gretel. This idea saved her and her brother’s life”. Police have released a recent statement to the press stating that Gretel pushed Mrs Thornberry into the oven, slammed the door and consequently Mrs Thornberry burned to death. Gretel’s actions are seen as defensive and due to this reason, she will not be charged for murder or any other juvenile offence.

The Westershire Woods are still closed but the investigation is nearing it’s end. The siblings have survived a traumatic ordeal and will reside with their father for the time being. Police are continuing to search for Mrs Steine so that they can arrest her. She apparently disappeared from the scene shortly after abandoning her children.

Police urge parents to be vigilant where ever they may be with their children and emphasise how important it is that they do not leave their children unattended.
