Social Media Is For Idiots

So, you see, the western world has a problem.

Our society lives the lives of others,

circulating from one person’s social platform to another,

instead of living their own lives,

and noticing what is happening in their own worlds−

living in a bubble of problems that are not their own.

“Millennials are the cause of it”, they say.

“Everybody in this generation is corrupted by social media platforms!”, they say.

Deciding that it is the

influence and laziness of the young that is to blame,

and not themselves.

I see it from my perspective.

Someone who, as a Millennial, both agrees and disagrees with this viewpoint.

Furthermore, I accept the use of social media.

Others−

Ridicule it. Turning it into an

incriminating thing.

Does the blame really come down to the platforms?

Is the incrimination of something that is created as a result of

others necessary?

The people who use it are the ones to blame unlike

Some putting the blame on the platform itself for bringing to light the idiots of the internet.

With thanks to Cerys Keen.
