Here are 10 reasons why dogs are the best!

I recently got my first ever dog and I soon discovered just how amazing these creatures are. I just wish I could talk to her and find out just what is going on in that head of hers. In my opinion dogs are the most loyal, loving and laugh-inducing animals out there. They have the power to change your life for the better and to improve your day or your mood and even your health.

I believe that everybody deserves to have an animal as wonderful as a dog in their lives and as long as you take proper care of them, you will receive so much love and a great friendship in return.

So here are 10 reasons why dogs are the best and why the world would be a better place if everyone owned a doggo.

1. A man’s best friend.

They say that a dog is a man’s best friend and I did not really believe this until I got my first dog. As I took care of her and trained her from when we first welcomed her home, we instantly had a bond with each other. Ask anybody in my family what happens when I come back from a month or two away at University and they will tell you that my dog goes absolutely crazy and does not leave my side until I leave again. This kind of love and devotion from your pup makes you love them even more. They are fiercely loyal and will not let anything bad happen to you or your family members.

2. They are calming.

Forget yoga or alcohol. Dogs are they best stress relief. After any tough day at work or school the best thing to do is to come back home and to be welcomed by a ball of fluff ready to comfort you and make you forget about your troubles and stress. They will instantly make you smile, laugh and appreciate the little things. Running your fingers through their fur and stroking their gorgeous squishy faces is very calming for your body and soul.

3. Dogs are very funny!

Ask any dog owner about their dog and no doubt they will tell you all of the hilarious anecdotes they have about their dog. Let’s face it, dogs are just natural born comedians and deserve to be appreciated for their adorable weirdness. Take any dog videos you have seen all over the next internet and tell me that dogs are not the funniest and most adorable animals in the world

4. They are basically aliens…

In fact, they can be so weird that I personally believe that they are basically aliens. They can be scared of the most randomly small and harmless things like a pebble or a potato and they do the weirdest most disgusting things like eating cat or fox poop or sniffing out any weird odours in your house, even a fart to find the culprit. They will investigate any changes to their surroundings and get weirdly confused by other animal species or even the mirror staring at their own reflections.

5. Cuddles!

Doggy cuddles are the best. If you love your dog like me you will find their sleepy faces the epitome of the word ‘cute’ and so the moment they fall asleep anywhere near you or on you, you will not want to move or disturb their slumber. If you do accidentally wake them up, you will hate yourself for causing the cuteness to disappear. When I return home from some time away, I will wake up to my dog sleeping on my head or my face or curled up warming my feet. They are a smart replacement for space heaters or water bottles. Their body heat can warm up any cold-footed person out there.

6. Health.

Not only are dogs great emotional support, they can help get you healthy. Everybody knows that dogs need to be walked every day and research has shown that fresh air and a walk a day has great benefits for your psychology and your physical health as well as the dog. No need to pay extensive gym fees, with a dog in your life you will undoubtedly get out of the house and do more exercise every day. Just make sure you buy yourself a decent coat and some comfy wellies for those chilly winter walks.

7. They are extremely intelligent.

Dogs are highly intelligent creatures, and nothing compares to the satisfaction you will feel when you finally house train them and/or teach them a new command. Getting your dog to sit, stay, roll over or something more complicated like achieving resistance to food placed under their nose or on their face. There is so much for both you and your dog to learn and you too can become a dog whisperer and feel like your doggo is the smartest in the world.

8. They always find a way to surprise you.

No matter how much you think you know and understand your dog, they will always find a way to surprise you. Whether it’s a new way of escaping or figuring out how to open cupboards or doors you want them to stay out of, they are skilled at using their clever alien brains to find new ways of surprising you or scaring you half to death when you can’t find them or they’re eating something you cannot identify

9. Dogs are easy to annoy.

I’m not going to lie, sometimes I like to annoy my dog. Apparently so do most people. We poke them, steal and hide their toys, and maybe blow of their faces or run away from them. These mild irritations usually cause very bizarre reactions, which we humans find highly amusing. The fact that these loyal animals often forgive and forget our mild irritating is testament to how much they love us.

10. They’re reflection of you.

In my opinion, dogs are the reflection of their owner. If you raise and train your dog right, you will have a hilarious alien cuddle friend for life. So, if you already have a dog, take a look at him or her and you will see a reflection of yourself as an owner.
