Yassie Liow is a language and writing enthusiast from New York City. When she is not translating Latin or typing up articles for her school newspaper, she can be found hugging dogs or tending to her always dying stick of bamboo. Yassie loves journalism and sees it as a way to connect with people and develop her opinions.
Caera Learmonth is a 15-year-old living in Austin, Texas but lived in the UK until she was 13. She’s interested in fashion, journalism, playing guitar and makeup. She loves writing because she wants to share her perspective about things in the world and finds people fascinating.
Olivia Stephani is a high school student in Chicago, Illinois. When she’s not attending swim practice, she is playing lacrosse, reading, or dreaming up stories to write. Olivia loves writing because it is relaxing, and it allows her to put her ideas into a media where other people may enjoy them.
Maxwell Stern is from Oakland, California. As a rising sophomore at Oakland Tech, he is active in his community and aspires to improve the life conditions of his peers. After school, he is on various youth leadership boards, student council, student activism club and volunteering in his city. Maxwell is interested in politics, journalism and education. In his free time his likes to be with friends, eat and watch television. While he doesn’t know what he wants to pursue as a career yet, he wishes to live in New York, San Francisco or Boston doing something he loves!
Sunny Sun is a 15-year-old from Vancouver, Canada. She loves to dance, draw, reread her favourite books, wear jewelry, and shop. She’s very passionate about supporting charities and consistently donates to various charities around Vancouver. She loves to write because she finds it’s a way to express herself and her opinions to others.
Olivia Sullivan, 15, is a current high school student from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. When she isn’t dreaming of Disney World, reading Harry Potter for the tenth time, or avidly watching Jurassic Park, she can be found playing tennis or watching the news while cuddled up with her 8 pound Morkie. Olivia has always loved to write, as she finds it an educational yet expressive form of art. She hopes to find herself in the journalism writing or political field when she is older.
Tate Beech is a 14-year-old who lives in Brooklyn, New York, but has spent most of her life living in Los Angeles, California. She can usually be found planning for her future pets, coming up with ways for her family to be more environmentally friendly, or coming up with weird Harry Potter theories — when she can remove herself from her ever-present book, that is. She loves writing because she strongly believes that words are an often underestimated weapon that can influence people strongly and make change in the world.
Connor Rempe is a 15-year-old living in Boston, Massachusetts. He loves writing because he isn’t very good at math and is interested in the many different stories out there. When he is not writing Connor can often be found interrupting his class with a thunderous sneeze, playing the piano or playing soccer. In the future he would like to pursue a career as a journalist but it’s too early to be sure.
Andrea Bolivar is a fifteen-year-old born in The Bronx, New York but now lives in Austin, Texas. She is interested in journalism, makeup and dermatology. Most of her time is spent playing with her dogs, making DIY skin care products, volunteering, playing roller derby or helping her mom around the house. Andrea has always had passion for debating and hopes to one day be known for standing up for what she believes in.
Caroline Loscalzo is a 15-year-old from Ridgewood, New Jersey. She is interested in talking when she’s supposed to be writing, soccer, journalism, people, running, coffee and SoulCycle. She is passionate about feminism, gun violence prevention, and activism in general. Caroline loves writing because she is able to learn more about the world and herself in an active way.
Ira Gorawara is a 14-year-old who was born and raised in Hong Kong. She is extremely passionate about basketball and enjoys writing and running in her free time. She is involved in various leadership clubs and roles such as being on the Student Leadership Team, a student ambassador, and captain of her basketball team. As a rising freshman, she is focused on pursuing her dreams of becoming a sports journalist. Ira loves writing because it has changed my perception about the world, and opens my mind to new views and ideas.
Adema Turarbekova is a 15-year-old high school student who lives in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She still has not decided what path she is going to choose in the future, but at the moment she is interested in journalism, fashion, books and editing clips. Adema aspires to change the world and becoming a better person than she is right now.
Zoe Rosenblum is a 15-year-old sophomore who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. She is passionate about makeup, fashion, and criminal justice. In her free time, she is usually found watching criminal justice shows, perfecting makeup techniques, and studying the pages of any Vogue magazine issue. She loves to write because it brings awareness to underrepresented issues.
Emilee Bick is a 15-year-old sophomore born and raised in the bustling city of Los Angeles, California. She is extremely motivated when it comes to her academic classes and political opinions, but always remains enthusiastic about the little treasures of the world. You can always find her drawing or writing about the cultures, food, and people she observes.
Hayden Martz is a 14-year-old living in Washington, DC. He goes to Georgetown Day School and enjoys playing soccer. He likes writing at school and likes spending time with his family.
Sarah Kim, 15, is an avid reader and a rising sophomore in high school. She loves origami, the Percy Jackson and Harry Potter series, and animation. She loves writing because to her, it’s freeing and she loves words.
Hannah Halberstam is from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She goes to high school, where she participates in a social activism club, band, robotics, and drumline. Outside of school, she goes to protests, runs with her sister, and works on the game she’s coding with her friend that is sure to work this time. She likes writing because she loves the idea of creating something with words.
Cameron Liberty, 14, is a rising freshman from Connecticut. Liberty has immersed herself in theater, dance, and music programs both in and out of school. She has always loved creative writing, and does it as much as possible. She is also a co-leader of the PSA and GSA at her school, and spends her weekends at marches, rehearsals, watching Netflix, and spending quality time with her closest friends.
