I flew…

I flew today.
Straight into the sun and at the heart of it I saw fiery jewels, and I reached out, took a hold of one, felt it burn the years away; back, all the way back to before we were born.
I saw the ash and I saw the char, tasted salt of tears and swallowed it whole — I swallowed the sun until it was night, my throat dry as desert, but I saw the moon and I felt its grace.
I survived.
I survived a trip to the sun; gave birth to gems that I place on your neck. I flew today and fly no longer, my wings now cut in ruby stones, weighing us far from a kindling sun.
