Sometimes I wonder if our thoughts open worlds, that when we blink a reality is made and just as easily destroyed; when we dream, a fragile ecosystem of desires breathe vague scenarios our memories only hint at.

I thought of a day that could have been, and in some ways was, of you standing in that poised and quiet strength. I opened a whole galaxy and there we were, alive for only a few seconds, and I felt your waist and body’s heat, and those sensations created a new world within itself, and following each second another second was born until we were trapped in a loop of contradictions, existing and not; you and the empty space you filled.

I watched and felt every moment pass like a lost breeze in a desert, my skin parched and soaked in sweat, and the energy hummed; the very atoms of the soul that somehow unlocked this universe traveled through our flesh and bone, vibrating the walls of each layered glass — spider cracks creeping along the sheet of ice, and we ran, slipping and crawling our way further down, deeper into the stars but it always caught us; repeated and echoed, a crashing sound growing in rage upon each death…
