Intentions
are a story, a rationale,
to help us understand
why something happened the way
it did, or does.

Sometimes, it helps contextualize
why something happened
out of the chaos of randomness,
that helps all parties move forward.

Sometimes, it illustrates the exact circumstances
that perpetuate the horrors,
and a clinging to intentions to dismiss accountability
simply means that those circumstances,
will only continue to perpetuate what’s going on
.

You can ask me to be kind,
you can ask me to be grateful;
and I can be the fuzziest peach in the world.

Yet the latter is a toxin when savoured
too much, too often.

I’m saying goodbye
because you seem to confuse
the latter with the first,
thinking the second doesn’t exist
if you are simply a good enough person.
