Knock At The Door

A Poem by Señor Tao

The truest philosophy, is not to long for anything in particular, but to accept everything as it comes, and find out the reason of it coming.

Marie Corelli

The unexpected knock on the door
awakened me from a late afternoon nap.
I heard your voice call my name but when
I opened the door, there was no one there.
I walked around the corner thinking you were playing
the trickster but could not find you hiding.
I returned to my room where the phone ringed,
and the voice sadly said you had drowned.
“That cannot be,” I screamed in disbelief.
“I just heard her call me from the other side of the door.”
That call of my name was your final good bye.

🌹With love and in memory of Kathleen Sherrill (August 30, 1933 — June 29, 2003)
