Velvet Couch

A poem

Meaning,
it becomes,
it is never done.

What is bounded
will proceed ostensibly
to unbounded beauty.

Building from a distinct velvet couch
to a transcendent ambiguity —
a quilting point undone,
unraveled restlessly.
It will always become more,
but never anything concretely.

The infinite builds upon itself
like the books on this old wooden shelf.
The infinite can always be bigger.

No shelf will hold onto
what this is becoming
because it will never become.
