God’s People

The blessed land
lays its open hand
on their heads,
they are fed
on milk and honey.
It is sunny
most of the year;
they are lotus-eaters.
Generations of peace
and priests
exude soothing balm,
a mid-ocean calm
to these men,
God’s children.
