Hold me

Hold me like a drop of water amidst the ocean
Hold me like a grain of sand in a desert unknown
The only thing that can tell one grain from the other
Is your presence close

Seek me like the dying man looks for the mirage
Stumble toward me with the last measure of your strength
Even if I’m not there, you shall see yourself there
Reflected, tinted hazel within my hollow pools

What no box can hold, no canteen can contain
Your hands do, but should you let me go
You shall find me lost, never to be found
For nothing shall set apart the grain from the other
The drop from the ocean
And nothing ever shall, again
