Luck — Week#6
Prompt: Mystery Cookie.
“Oh my, today must be my lucky day!” exclaimed Mindy as she stumbled upon an almond cookie while she was on her way home. Her stomach growled loudly as she clutched at the cookie tightly, her head swivelled left and right, hoping that no one else had discovered her prize.
Once she’s assured that there is no one else in sight, she scurried into the nearest hole, with her teeth clenched tightly out of fear that she will lose this prized possession. She scrambled deeper and deeper into the dark dungeons, eager to get back to her safe zone. Every time she approached a corridor, she poked her head out first, and will only emerge once the coast is clear. Her heart thumps with incredible speed, she knew she would have to hurry because time is no longer on her side.
As she entered a familiar looking entrance, she knew she would only have a few minutes to spare. She placed her prized possession in a corner of the room, and quickly scuffled the pile of twigs and dried leaves so that the entrance is blocked. The makeshift blockade should suffice for now, she thought to herself. The stench from the discarded pile should be enough to block the fragrance of her prized possession from wafting out of her room.
Now she is all alone with her almond cookie. Her prized possession, her treasure, her only cookie in the past week. Her eyes glimmered as she convinced herself to take a bite into the heavenly-smelling cookie. Now that she felt safe, her stomach had taken control over her mind. She bit ferociously into the cookie, crumbs fell out of her mouth as she gobbled each and every bite hungrily. She stuffed her mouth full with every bite of almond cookie, her stomach groaned with content, her mind in a state of bliss.
Above her, three men in white coats stared at her as she desperately gobbled down the cookie, their pens scribbling ferociously onto a notepad. Experiment 352, Mindy’s behaviour was noted down in their observations. Little did she know, Mindy would have a tough competition the next time she receives a mystery cookie.
