This one is called “we’ll cram it anyway”.

“We’ll cram it anyway” is a painting with a word or a sentence that doesn’t fit in the space of the canvas and hence gets squeezed to the side. In the example above you can see a squeezed sentence and in the one below, 2 squeezed words.

One might recall filling an application by pen or pushing one’s luck on an exam answer where space was limited. Such behaviour is usually representative of a disorganised individual however it also points to craftiness. Individuals testing the rules and pushing the limits.

There is an unapologetic gutsiness to it despite the lack of elegance and planning foresight. By actually performing the act of writing and cramming, one actually experiences the emotions related to the act (gutsiness, being unapologetic etc.).

The same feeling can be experienced — and the project can hence be expanded — by trying to fit too much into a piece of luggage. The zipper almost breaking, the fingers cramming the last bit of clothing inside and the zipper eating up the fabric, the performer sitting on the piece of luggage, the friend or significant other cheering etc. A performance.

More so, the piece can serve as a metaphor to how the world sometimes appears to be living today, using ever more absurd techniques to fit its needs whereas, in truth, it is living beyond the limits it can afford to transgress.
