Free art piece idea #44
This one is called “Guerilla therapy”.
This piece is set in a future where humans are in bad need of help. The consequences of the irrational system their rational lifestyles have lead to need a brutal intervention to be reversed. Enter the guerilla.
The guerilla is a group of volunteer artists in impeccable physical and psychological shape.
Mindfulness intervention
The first of many interventions targets citizens’ absent-mindedness and inability to enjoy the present. That’s totally fine but everyone could use a reminder once in awhile. Guerillas would appear out of nowhere in public settings (subways, parks, restaurants etc.) and relentlessly ask: “where are you now? Right now, where are you?”.
Life purpose intervention
The guerilla would post in front of major corporate headquarters early in the morning to catch the most ambitious ones. They would ask: “Why are you going to work today? What is this all for?”. They would quote Cioran like Sophie Calle did: “To accomplish nothing and die of the strain”.
Mechanical interventions
The guerilla would build random mechanical signs that would jump out of the walls in the subway. They would read: “where are you going and why?”.
Therapeutic interventions
The guerilla would form the binge patrol. The binge patrol would develop an app. The app would sport red button and ask users to access their location at any time. When the user presses the button, the guerilla, now wearing the “binge patrol” rosy costume, would appear within minutes to physically stop the user from binge eating. They would tie her hands and burn her food while she is watching. The binge patrol would be sponsored by the local governmental body.
Emotional intervention
The above binge patrol and its eponymous app applies just as well to the “emotional rescue watch group”. This jolly group would slap the user still unsure about terminating an unhealthy relationship.
