The Wall Street Journal’s summer 2021 newsroom interns produced more than 100 stories and projects that had millions of total pageviews through their 10-week internship. This talented group of 18 journalists from across the country and London was our fourth and largest class to work remotely in the past year.

Topics covered in the most-read stories by interns through Aug. 20 included: emojis meaning different things to different people; companies paying new workers higher wages; cities trying to phase out gas stoves; cartoon character Peppa Pig having American children acting British; and the CDC urging schools to welcome kids back whether they are vaccinated or not.

Here’s a look at some of the top stories and projects produced by the WSJ summer interns.
