The Cannabis Central Reporting System (CCRS) was implemented in 2021 as the LCB’s traceability solution after the decommission of Leaf Data Systems. LCB’s traceability project team has been working on initial steps to explore traceability solutions beyond CCRS. Discussions have begun on finalizing development in CCRS and moving to support and maintenance.

At the end of 2023, initial meetings began on the roadmap forward for traceability. The traceability team’s portfolio and phase 1 charters were finalized, and recruitment has begun for a Traceability Project Manager and support staff.

2024 and Beyond

Coming in 2024, phase 1 of this transition will begin. Phase 1 will include opportunities for community engagement, organizational change management planning, the creation of a CCRS data analytics dashboard, and a decision package (budget request) for phase 2.

Additionally, the team plans to recruit and hire a Traceability Project Manager, Community Engagement Specialist and other support staff positions.

The project team are working to define a traceability roadmap during 2024 and 2025. Further steps for the project are planned through 2031.

  • 2025–2026 — Supply chain: tracing the statewide production cycle
  • 2027–2028 — Tracing the distribution of supply to retail channels
  • 2029–2031 — Tracing sales and revenue from supply distribution
