Do you have questions about insurance requirements for a cannabis-licensed business?

WAC 314–55–082 requires licensees to always carry and maintain commercial general liability insurance. These rules are intended to protect the consumer. Please make sure your insurance covers all these bases:

  • Commercial general liability insurance: The licensee must carry and maintain commercial general liability insurance not less than $1,000,000.
  • This insurance must cover claims which may be caused by any act, omission, or negligence of the licensee or its officers, agents, representatives, assigns, or servants.
  • The insurance must also cover, bodily injury, including disease, illness and death, property damage, and product.
  • The state and its employees, agents, and volunteers shall be named as an additional insured on insurance policies.

We invite you to contact the Cannabis Team at cannabislicensing@lcb.wa.gov if you have additional questions.
