Some of you may be wondering what happened to the Education pages on the Liquor and Cannabis Board website. When I returned to the LCB in 2021, I determined that the pages needed some serious updating. With other tasks taking precedence, this effort landed on the back burner for a while. I am happy to report that progress is now being made, and we intend to have the new pages up no later than the end of the year.

Objectives of the update included providing more useful information about cannabis to help consumers make informed decisions, to share recommendations for consumer safety, and to provide current health-related information based on the latest research. While we do not intend for this to be a site with comprehensive information about all things cannabis, we do want to provide better basic information and referrals to other sources for those who want more.

In the past month we engaged with people outside the agency to give us feedback for two of the key sections of the cannabis education pages — “Cannabis Basics” and “Consumer Safety.” They shared their knowledge as a cannabis consumer advocate, a cannabis researcher, and a representative of the recovery community. Their valuable input is being incorporated. Stay tuned!
