Out With the Old, In With the New
By Mary Segawa, Public Health Education Liaison
Some of you may be wondering what happened to the Education pages on the Liquor and Cannabis Board website. When I returned to the LCB in 2021, I determined that the pages needed some serious updating. With other tasks taking precedence, this effort landed on the back burner for a while. I am happy to report that progress is now being made, and we intend to have the new pages up in the next few months.
Along these same lines, this will be my final Topics and Trends entry as I am retiring at the end of this year. When I first came to the LCB in 2010, I was the Alcohol Awareness Program Manager. By the end of 2012, Initiatives 1183 and 502 had brought big changes to our state and, with that, to my position. This has been an unexpected, ever-changing, challenging, and in many ways amazing ride, and I have been proud to be on this ride with my LCB colleagues.
I am excited to turn the reins over to Kristen Haley who comes to this position with valuable experience in public health, communications, and policy work. The desire to reduce and prevent youth alcohol use as well as excessive use of alcohol by adults will continue. The health and safety of our state’s residents and visitors depend on it. Thank you for your partnerships.
