Dianne Bailey, Congressional District 4’s Democratic Chair, called the meeting to order at 1:37 pm on Saturday, June 24. It was held in the Pueblo Democratic Headquarters at 602 W. 9th St. The quorum requirement of 25 members present in person, by phone, or by proxy was easily met. Sadly, limited bandwidth at the facility prevented the hoped-for Facebook Live video from being useful to remote participants.

The first order of business was to meet the hopeful candidates seeking to unseat Ken Buck next fall. CD4 is fortunate to have three declared candidates even at this early date.

Candidate Karen McCormick surrounded by her family, daughters Erin and Kendall Perry, left, husband Gregg and daughter Camryn, right.

In addition to quizzing the candidates, the committee adopted resolutions that will allow the district to register with the Colorado Secretary of State as a political Committee. This will allow fundraising and expenditures independent of the State and County parties. All were unanimous.

Chase Kohne is ready to run!

The candidates who introduced themselves to the Committee are, in order of appearance:

  • Karen McCormick, a Veterinarian and self-described military brat from Longmont.
  • Chase Kohne, a large-animal Veterinarian from Douglas County and a Major in the Army Reserves.
  • Larry Germanson of Firestone, a former psychologist.
