Tell us about your organisation:
HV Capital is one of the leading early-stage and growth investors in Europe with more than two decades worth of experience. HV Capital has had the privilege to back and work with European technology winners, including the first generation of German billion-dollar businesses, and new disruptors like Flixbus, Enpal, SumUp and Isar Aerospace, HV Capital is continuously looking for the next generation of disruptors from every industry, including FinTech, SaaS, climate tech, and consumer goods. HV Capital has invested in around 225 internet and technology companies and is one of the few venture capital firms in Europe that can finance startups through all growth phases. With offices in Munich and Berlin, HV Capital has a team of skilled investment and operations professionals that provide a variety of perspectives and expertise across the venture capital landscape.
What is your approach to diversity?
Forbes research showed that diverse teams make better business decisions 87% of the time and HV Capital could not agree more. HV Capital’s team consists of experts with different educational backgrounds, different nationalities and different interests. HV Capital is also dedicated to promoting positive change in the tech industry. The lack of diversity in leadership roles is viewed as an opportunity to make a difference. HV Capital Fund IX is an Article 8 Fund where 33% of Portfolio C-suites will be held by women by the end of its duration. HV Capital is dedicated to working with other industry stakeholders to share best practices and establish a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. By ensuring that diverse individuals occupy leadership positions, we can shape a more dynamic, innovative, and equitable startup landscape.
What motivated you to support WVC:E as a sponsor?
At HV Capital, we believe in promoting a fair and equal environment for women to thrive in the VC sector. By bringing together a community of talented women professionals, this initiative combats the unconscious biases that have historically held women back from advancing in the industry. By normalizing the presence of women in VC, “WVC:E” gradually breaks down stereotypes and changes perceptions.
The partnership strives to support a platform that showcases the achievements and contributions of women in VC. This increased visibility not only challenges prevailing biases but also inspires other women to pursue careers in the field, ultimately increasing the pipeline of female talent entering the industry. The initiative amplifies the collective voice of women, enabling them to advocate for more significant gender equity in the industry. This collective action is essential for initiating and sustaining change in the VC landscape, ensuring that gender balance remains a priority.
