Talk Title:

Why putting a VR Headset on changed my career

Talk overview:

I will give a quick insight into my personal journey into the VR industry and why I built my company around it. I will also delve into the advances of VR over the past year and where I see it going in 2017.

Why did you agree to speak at WXG?

I was honoured to be asked to speak at WXG by the teams at Wirehive and Kyan. I have heard some fantastic reviews of the event and I am looking forward to speaking and networking.

What do you think attendees will get out of your talk?

The attendees will gain an insight into an exciting industry that is continuously growing. Attendees will also find a passion for something can really drive you to change. I used my passion to turn an idea into a functioning company with no backing at all.

How did you get into your field?

I started working at a Games company as a Social Media Executive. The company I joined was actually in the process of changing from virtual worlds to virtual reality. This is where I was first introduced to the technology and where my passion grew.

Who is your inspiration in the industry?

I have met some incredible people in the VR world who I constantly look to for guidance or help. One of those people is Patrick O’Luanaigh who was the first person to introduce me to VR. Without him I would not be where I am today. Patrick is the CEO of nDreams, a games company based in Farnborough.

What advice would you give to someone new to the industry?

The VR community in the UK is one of the nicest and most welcoming you will ever meet. Head to as many networking and VR events as you can, you will soon meet lots of great people working in the industry.

Samantha will be talking at WXG on the 23rd March, 2017
