Spreader — A 100-Word Challenge

Toasted, thick-cut white bread slathered with butter. My mouth waters as I watch him prepare it just the way I like it. He’s taking his own sweet time because he knows how hungry I am, and I stare longingly as he takes a spoonful of marmalade and spreads it meticulously to the edges of the bread. A groan of frustration escapes my mouth, and he chuckles, happy to tease me in this way. Slicing the bread into triangles he places the plate in front of himself and taps his lap with his hand.
“Come and enjoy this, while I enjoy you.”
