Formula #003 — You’ve got Mail!

Are you always excited about mail deliveries? Want to know the second the delivery is made? We make that possible with the Wyze Sense contact sensor! In this formula, we will show you how to use a contact sensor within your mailbox to send a notification and record the delivery on your Wyze Cam the moment it happens.

Formula ingredients

Wyze Sense Starter Kit (Contact Sensor)
Wyze Cam v2 or Wyze Cam Pan
Mailbox

STEP 0 — Before you even get started, make sure your WiFi connection can reach far enough. This may not work for mailboxes that are too far away from your home (and WiFi router.) You’ll want to test that your WiFi can reach your mailbox before you permanently place the contact sensor. It's easy to test though, just set up the contact sensor from the Wyze Sense Starter Kit with the Wyze app, walk out to your mailbox, and see if it works.

STEP 2 — Place your Wyze Cam v2 or Wyze Cam Pan within view of the mailbox. Check your Wyze app for placement to ensure good coverage. Now attach the contact sensor inside the mailbox with one piece in the box and the other on the mailbox door. Test to make sure it registers as open/closed.

STEP 3 — Create a new Rule for the contact sensor. Tap the Device Trigger option and then select When [contact sensor] Opens. Choose the action with your Wyze Cam as Upload a short video to the cloud. Be sure to tap Save. For more information on rules, click here.
