20 Items That Will Cost More When Trump’s Tariffs Hit Next Year

--

While supposedly “worker friendly,” Trump’s just announced tariffs are going to make life a lot more expensive in the United States next year and for years to come, for everyone

With Donald Trump planning to implement new tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China, it’s time to prepare for some budget surprises in 2025. Here are the top twenty buckets of stuff likely to cost more as a result, along with the reasons why.

1. Cars and Car Parts
Tariffs on vehicles and components from Canada, Mexico, and China could increase the cost of both imported and domestically manufactured cars. As many as 47% of parts in U.S.-assembled cars come from abroad, meaning even buying American won’t save you.

2. Smartphones
Smartphones, including your beloved iPhone, rely on Chinese-made components. Additional tariffs will inflate prices, making upgrades even less affordable.

3. Food Staples
Expect price hikes on Mexican avocados, Canadian maple syrup, and Chinese garlic. The tariffs target agricultural imports, turning breakfast pancakes and guacamole into luxury items.
