X World Games takes Miami! — Bitcoin Conference 2022 Review
XWG’s Head of Global Engagement, Kata Botica, attends BTC conference.
The crypto space has grown exponentially over the last five years. Bitcoin 2022, being the largest crypto-related conference, had approximately 30,000 attendees and exhibitors. Attendees ranged from the most influential leaders and politicians to investors, enthusiasts, and humanitarians. However, crypto is still in the early stages compared to traditional industries. Yet, seeing a collective group of diverse thinkers discussing the future of crypto made being bullish on crypto not just a slang term.
X World Games team member, Kata, got the opportunity to spend four days at the Miami-based conference, learning, absorbing, and developing XWG’s interests in the space.
At the Bitcoin conference, she had the opportunity to listen to big names like Jack Mallars (CEO of Strike) and Micheal Saylor. She also met a few “Bullish for Bitcoin” enthusiasts, Layah Heilpern and Natalie Brunell.
Not only was Bitcoin in town, but many other blockchain companies showed up as well! Binance US had a booth at the conference, and even Solana hosted a five-day Hackathon at their outdoor event in the Miami area.
Kata also got to connect with more women in the crypto industry. The Des Femmes, the crypto magazine and women-led organization founded by Leigh Cuen, hosted a woman in crypto brunch. It was a real Girl Power event and empowering to meet so many active and influential women leaders in the space.
Gaming x Crypto
The life cycle of gaming has moved from Pay to Play to Free to Play and is now on track to having Play to Earn become the new mainstream gaming movement. Adopted early by millions of gamers already, the crypto space has spearheaded this new game economy and mechanism.
Gaming with crypto has been at the forefront of crypto trends, and that was no different at the conference. The conference showcased game vendors for Bitcoin blockchain games and guilds while hosting live gaming competitions for popular esports titles such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter. Slowly but surely, large game companies will adopt the model of Play to Earn and join in on what projects and gamers are already a part of!
